Middle School Social Studies Curriculum

The Middle School Social Studies program promotes student understanding of historical concepts and important details about history by allowing students to see connections between classroom activities, history, and their lives today. The History Alive Program by TCI is used in our Middle School Social Studies program. Throughout the program there are many opportunities to develop map and graph skills as timelines and geography skills are taught throughout the year. Critical thinking is is a key component of the History Alive Program.
The Sixth Grade Curriculum focuses on the Ancient World by introducing students to the beginnings of the human story. Students explore the great early civilizations of Egypt and the Near East, India, China, Greece, and Rome and discover the secrets of these ancient cultures that continue to influence the modern world. In addition, students also focus heavily on Geography skills.
The Seventh Grade Curriculum emphasizes the Medieval World by allowing students to discover rich connection to their past as they explore the legacy of civilizations from Europe, Africa, and the Middle East to Asia and the Americas.
The Eighth Grade Curriculum takes students on a powerful journey through the history of the United States from its earliest foundations to the age of industrialism. Students examine the philosophies, conflicts, and cultures around which the early nation developed and consider the influence of past events on the nation today.
