Middle Township Elementary School #2 is a learning community built on a solid foundation of academic achievement and excellence for all. Our faculty and staff are committed to providing an exceptional level of instruction to each and every student. Our goal is nothing less than the development of the “whole child” as we strive daily to deliver a comprehensive and rigorous educational program that addresses our students’ social, emotional, intellectual and physical growth. It is our hope that a genuine enthusiasm for learning be fostered within each student as they achieve their maximum potential.
Academically, all of the programs at Elementary #2 are supported by a standards-based curriculum. For mathematics instruction, we utilize the Everyday Math program which has proven successful for our students. In language arts literacy, we utilize a research-based comprehensive reading and language arts program entitled Journeys which provides systematic and explicit instruction in the five key areas of reading. Daily mini-lesson reading principles focus on key reading strategies as they are strengthened during whole and small group, and independent reading contexts. Each year, the students are exposed to a variety of text types and genres.
Character building is another component of our school’s educational program. Each teacher infuses character development throughout the day based on the Six Pillars of Character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. Character education is further supported by our new school-wide behavior program entitled P.A.W.S. Students are encouraged to Practice responsibility, Act kind and show respect, Work hard and Stay safe as they engage in the various learning experiences throughout each school day.
